ผลการวิจัยของ Dunn et., al 2008 ปรากฏว่า การใช้จ่ายเงินให้กับผู้อื่น สามารถทำให้ตัวเองมีความสุขมากกว่าการใช้จ่ายให้กับตัวเอง (น่าจะคล้ายๆกับ การซื้อของขัวญ หรือการให้ทาน ในบ้านเรา)
